Beer Review: Saranac 1888 Octoberfest

My next beer review is of Saranac Brewing's 1888 Octoberfest Lager, part of their German Roots Fall Pack. Saranac is owned by FX Matt Brewing, and brewed in Utica, NY. They are under the Hashgacha of the Va'ad of Detroit. The beer pours a rich red copper, with a thin off-white head. The initial aroma is that of sweet malt, with hints of burnt caramel creeping in as well. Richly roasted malt hits the tongue at first sip, followed by sweet caramel toffee, and continues down with a dough-y finish. The feel is a bit light-bodied, yet crisp and well carbonated. Overall this is an above average Octoberfest, with a beautiful color, and nice taste.
