With the exception of one beer all are on the Star-K's LOC.
- Boston Lager (Star-K Certified)
- Sam '76 (Star-K Certified)
- Winter Lager (Star-K Certified)
- Old Fezziwig (Star-K Certified)
- Holiday Porter (Star-K Certified)
- Chocolate Bock(Star-K Dairy) *see below*
The following was copied and pasted from an email received from the Star-K. (some grammatical changes were made)
* Chocolate Bock has lactose. It is a milk sugar and is added cold. Lactose is derived from whey when it is split into whey protein concentrate and lactose. It has a hechsher. We consider it dairy.*
In conclusion 5 out of the 6 beers are Star-K Certified Parve, with the last one Star-K certified Dairy.

When the Star-K says about Chocolate Bock that “It has a hechsher”, do they mean I should expect to see the Star-K symbol on the label?
ReplyDeleteI’m asking because my box has the Star-K symbol on all other beers, but *not* on the label of the Chocolate Bock.
My understanding is that there is a Hechsher even though there is no Star-K on the label.
